(FAQ)
Do you work with teams outside higher ed?
Yes — nonprofits, small businesses and anyone who needs a site that's easy to keep running.
Can you work from our designer's files?
Yes. I can build from your designer's files, or we can design it together from scratch.
Which CMS should we use?
It depends on your content and your team. Drupal suits larger sites with lots of structured content and editors. WordPress is a good fit when you want something familiar and simple to run. Astro works well for fast, mostly static sites that don't change daily. We'll pick together during scoping.
Will we be able to update the site ourselves?
Yes — that's the point. I model the content around how your team actually works, and every build includes CMS training so your editors can launch pages without calling me.
Will a redesign hurt our search rankings?
Not if the move is planned. Every migration includes a content audit and a redirect map, so old links land on the right new pages and the traffic you've built carries over.
Can you take over a site someone else built?
Usually, yes. I'll start by reviewing the codebase and hosting setup, then let you know what shape it's in before we agree on a care plan or any new work.
What does a care plan cover?
Security updates, core and plugin upgrades, and backups, plus a set number of dev hours each month for small changes and fixes.
Is accessibility included in every build?
Yes. I build to WCAG from the start rather than bolting it on later. If you have an existing site, an audit gives you a prioritized fix list, and I can make the fixes too.
Do you work remotely?
Yes. I work in Eastern Time (ET) with clients anywhere, with regular check-ins over video and a staging link you can review at any time.
